Why South African businesses choose Platybooks

Most invoicing tools are built for somewhere else. This one isn’t.

One tool, not five

Quotes, invoices, reminders, payment links, and receipts live in one place — so you can retire the spreadsheet, the PDF template, and the payment chasing.

Made for how you bill here

Invoice in Rand with VAT on every line and a due date from your default terms — no reformatting an overseas template to fit South African paperwork.

Your numbers stay yours

Every business gets its own isolated workspace with role-based access and a full audit trail of who did what and when.

Questions, answered

Is there really a free plan?

Yes — the Free plan is free forever. It covers a single user, a few clients, and up to five documents a month, so you can run real work before you ever pay.

Can I take payments in South Africa with Paystack?

Yes. Add your bank details to get set up with Paystack, then share a hosted payment link — clients pay by card in Rand and Paystack pays the money out to your bank account. The invoice marks itself paid and a receipt goes out automatically.

What does it cost to accept a card payment?

We take no cut — you pay Paystack directly. Paystack publishes 2.9% + R1.00 per local card transaction, 3.1% + R1.00 for international cards, and 2% on EFT, all VAT exclusive, deducted before the money is paid out to your bank. Rates change and are negotiable at volume, so check Paystack's pricing page for current figures. Recording an EFT or cash payment by hand is free on every plan, including Free.

Are your prices in Rand?

If you’re in South Africa, plans are shown in Rand — R0 on Free, then R199, R499, and R1,199 a month. Visitors elsewhere see US dollars. You can change plans anytime.

Can I use my own branding?

On Starter and above you can upload a logo and address. Your PDFs and public pages carry your brand instead of ours.

Can I invite my team?

Yes. Invite teammates as owner, admin, or member. Members handle documents and clients; owners and admins also manage finance, settings, and the team.

Can I change plans later?

Anytime. Upgrade or downgrade from Settings → Billing. Usage limits and features adjust instantly.
